Wellness

Pursuing long-term wellness isn’t one size fits all, and personalized care is our top priority. We offer highly skilled, licensed physical therapists to address chronic pain, improve movement quality and help prevent injury and re-injury. I’m a 46 year old avid cyclist with a history of lower back and pelvic issues. A history of adolescent power strength training coupled with a major fall in my mid-twenties led to years of 2,400 mg of... ibuprofen a day, too many steroid injections to count, and at least half a dozen stints of physical therapy. None of that provided any lasting help or relief. I was introduced to Brooke and her Reforming Foundations practice about 2 years ago. Classes and 1:1 sessions had me feeling stronger than ever.COVID shut down Riding and Pilates and doubled the time I was spending sitting at a desk. I woke one day and could barely walk. This lasted for 2 weeks and through the typical corticosteroid, muscle relaxers, and NSAIDs. I called Brooke figuring if I could get moving again, I could feel better. At that stage of the pandemic, it was not possible to have 1:1 in person instruction, but I could have in home physical therapy and that’s when Brooke introduced me to Lindsey. After just a couple visits with Lindsey and doing my homework, I was up and around and getting stronger.We worked in concert with physical therapy, manipulation, and targeted Pilates over several weeks.I have been pain free for over a year now and without NSAIDS, muscle relaxers, or steroids. The longest pain free span since my mid-twenties.I’m stronger than I’ve ever been.I am able to move more freely using muscles I was not able to access prior.I am faster on my bike.And I am happier without the suffering.Thank you Brooke, Lindsey, and all of the kind and generous people at Reforming Foundations. I started doing private sessions at Reforming Foundations in 2019 when I realized it was cheaper than physical therapy I'd previously tried for hip dysplasia. That quickly turned into me falling in... love with pilates and all of the staff. This year my health took a turn for the worse after multiple months of exposure to toxic black mold in my old office. This stirred up more joint issues and I returned for physical therapy since two PTs are now on staff at Reforming Foundations. I also was able to take advantage of the sauna in the studio (which my doctor said was the best way to get rid of mold in the body) after my PT sessions. The convenience of having my workouts and PT and the sauna in the same place is amazing. I LOVE Reforming Foundations! I have been a Pilates loyalist for many years and the professional yet friendly atmosphere, attention to detail and focus on health and wellness at RF is second to... none! Of particular note is the quick transition to virtual classes at the start of COVID Stay At Home orders - I was not a mat Pilates convert until now having spent now more than 2 months in virtual Reforming Foundations classes, they are innovative and varied, always with a focus on keeping us strong, pain free and healthy. On a personal note, I purchased a pair of jeans at the start of Stay At Home orders, they took around a month to arrive and of course by the time they arrived they were slightly snug (too much comfort food and vino!). More than 8 weeks have gone by and I have been enjoying at least 4 virtual Pilates sessions per week and I’m very pleased to report that the jeans actually fit comfortably! This is a wonderful studio! The instructors are very knowledgeable and very friendly. They are great at helping you along if you're struggling to figure out a move and especially great at making... sure you have the move down correctly. Brooke the owner is super friendly and wants you to succeed! I started classes here when I was newly pregnant and thought I would have to quit as my pregnancy progressed because a prenatal class was not on the docket. Because Brooke really does care about her clients, she found a way to work with me so that I can continue on with Pilates through my pregnancy. I'm really happy with my experience here and feel comfortable as a client here. In the past I wasn't always comfortable or excited for classes at other studios I've taken Pilates classes at. At some of the other studios I felt like the odd man out or like I wasn't as experienced as other members. Reforming foundations definitely has a welcoming atmosphere and actually makes you WANT to go to class and work out.
